Liquid Laminating

Liquid laminates are typically water- or solvent-based protective varnishes (clear coating).

  • Water-based coating: for any material that is not water sensitive, such as solvent prints. Water-based clear coats are odourless, non-toxic and do not impact the dimensional stability or shrinking properties of the finished substrate.
  • Solvent-based coating: for almost any material, water sensitive or not (including water or oil based prints)

How to apply?

Liquid laminates can be applied by hand (using a brush, roller, spray gun or a screen-print mesh,) or by using a liquid laminating machine. Liquid laminators submerge the material into the liquid, apply the coating with a roller or spray it onto the material.

Benefits

  • inexpensive and requires no special equipment
  • highly flexible and ideal for banners, flexible curtains, textiles and fabrics
